About Us

Shaping the Future of Cultural and Creative Industries

RuramaiAFRICA Cultural Arts and Heritage (RACAH) is a research and experiment based arts development organization dedicated to safeguarding Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage, stimulating economic growth through arts based employment and shaping effective arts policies. We focus our work on four key areas that are monitoring and evaluation, employment creation, heritage preservation and policy development, aiming to create a thriving arts landscape and ecosystems.

The organization was formed to create and provide consistent and systematic change management approaches that will contribute to the overall development of a sustainable working environment for culture work and its workers i.e. cultural dancers, dance institutions, associations, traditional instrument makers. We achieve this through rigorous monitoring and evaluation, job creation initiatives, heritage preservation and policy advocacy.

FOCUS AREAS

We aim to produce and avail evidence based and reliable, user friendly data, statistics and information in the CCIs including their socio-economic impact; that can further be used to inform policy decisions that support the cultural sector and promote cultural development.

Our work focus on creating long term solutions that empower player in the Cultural and Creative Industry Value chain to generate sustainable livelihoods though practice capacity building, providing access to resources, job opportunities and fostering market linkages

We base our work on creating positive narratives, comprehensive records of cultural heritage, including photographs, videos, oral histories and documents; stimulating opportunities for innovation and the nurturing of talent and professionalism

Seek resources, establish partnerships with other institutions to support arts initiatives and projects that align with national goals as well as providing training, mentorship and technical assistance to help artists and organizations develop their skills and capacity to design programs that are properly aligned with national and regional policies, and strategies.

Key Highlights

Our work is designed to offer technical support to the Creative Arts Value Chain and ecosystems through the following services:

Monitoring & Evaluation

We help Arts Organizations track and enhance their projects by offering services such as logic models, performance indicators, baseline studies, evaluations, reporting, data collection tools, and capacity building workshops.

Cultural Arts Consultancy

We offer services including Junior School Visual and Performing Arts syllabus interpretation, traditional dance training and workshops, and cultural musical instrument manufacturing and repair (Mbira, Marimba, Ngoma, Chipendani).

Cultural Arts Advocacy

Our advocacy focuses on preserving and innovating Cultural Heritage. We engage with stakeholders to enhance Culture Work and its community through research and documentation of Cultural Heritage and by promoting Cultural Arts as viable businesses.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

We bring extensive experience in the cultural and arts sectors, leading projects in Monitoring and Evaluation, Cultural Heritage advocacy, and support for orphaned children. Our work includes promoting arts as viable businesses, engaging stakeholders to enhance cultural work, and addressing social challenges such as gender-based violence and climate change.
